About Me
Rae: Hair Artist & Advocate for Authentic Beauty
Hello! I’m Rae, a Southern California native with over 14 years of experience in hairdressing. My journey began in high school, cutting and dyeing friends' hair in my bathroom, and quickly evolved into a passion for the art of hair in the entertainment industry. After graduating high school, I assisted makeup artist friends on indie productions, which solidified my love for hairstyling.
I enrolled in beauty school three months pregnant with my son—nervous yet hopeful. Initially focusing on hair color and its chemistry, I later discovered the craft of razor haircutting after developing sensitivities to hair color and harsh traditional salon chemicals. A transformative workshop in 2018, centered around air-dried haircuts and clean beauty products, inspired me to master razor cutting, leading me to learn from industry leaders like Corrina Hernandez, Nick Arrojo, Gerard Scarpaci, and Holly Seidel. Assisting Jayne Matthews during her 2019 Southern California educational tour was another highlight of my journey.
I’m passionate about dismantling stereotypes around beauty standards. I believe in celebrating natural beauty—whether it’s embracing greys, curls, or frizz—and helping clients coexist with their unique features.
Most of my clients are on the cusp of exploring their natural texture and seek a no-fuss cut that still makes a statement. I do not offer chemical services, as I believe in the transformative power of a well-executed haircut.
I also prioritize sustainability in my work. All the products and brands I choose to use are ethically sourced and synthetic fragrance-free, ensuring that my clients receive the best without compromising on values.
Currently, I live in the San Gabriel Valley with my husband John and two sons. When I'm not at the salon, you can find me enjoying a nice cappuccino, hiking, enjoying the outdoors, or indulging in creative pursuits like painting and sculpting.
I’m always learning and evolving, and I can’t wait to connect with you!
